fabulous hatchetDecember 14, 2008 King Ghidora(Planet X) Hatchets just don't come better than this. It will take a very sharp edge and hold it all day long. It's not a splitting axe. It isn't an axe at all. What it is though is a tough as nails hatchet that will get any job done that a hatchet is meant to do. If you want a splitting axe get a Fiskars brand splitting axe. If you want a chopping axe Fiskars makes one of those that is also 5 stars. If you want to clear brush on your favorite ATV trail or you want to chop kindling for your campfire this hatchet can't be beat. Just don't expect it to be something it isn't.
Nice hatchetNovember 16, 2008 J. Morse(western MA) This hatchet is sharp. No question. It's balanced well and nicely engineered and crafted. I am using it to split kindling which it does superbly. It is a good weight for light duty splitting. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the plastic handle is slippery, especially with any glove material that tends to get slippery with cold and ice...nylon, fleece etc. I suspect I can find a way to solve that on my own but I am a little surprised, given the quality of design and engineering, that wasn't taken into account in the first place.
BEST HATCHET EVER!!!September 19, 2008 I just got this hatchet in the mail today and have been chopping large kindling with it all day and I'm extremely impressed. I can only say good things about it. First off the handle is unbreakable, it can even stand being run over by a truck! And the blade of the hatchet is very sharp and the steel is quite nice. I'm also planning on buying the 17-Inch Splitting Hatchet because I'm very satisfied with their line of axes/hatchets!
best camp hatchet everAugust 14, 2008 C. grey This is the one to get, sharp, light weight, and comfortable. It is much better than the 8 inch one I purchased for backpacking, and hardly weighs more. granted, this is not for splitting wood, it is for felling small trees, removing branches, and making kindeling.
You won't be sorry
hatchetApril 15, 2008 Mr. C Never had an hatchet that worked this good right out of the box. Great for cutting small camp wood, limbs and branches.
